I promise not to use the “it was all a dream” trope unless there’s a VERY good reason, or it’s funny. And, this is not one of those times. Mom has been at the hospital all night.
Not only do we see what a concerned mom she has, but we get a reminder of her age. Calling for your mommy in a stressful situation is something a younger person would do.
Sometimes we (well, I know I do) can forget how out of her depth she is. These people are killers, and she’s pretty much still a kid.
And I love how you drew the folds on that bed. Strange thing to compliment, but they’re tough to get right.
True, but I am guilty of writing Jane a bit older now and then. In my defense, most 19th century stories use such dense flowery prose you could cut it with a knife. That’s why I couldn’t finish “The Mummy” upon which this is very loosely based.
I also wanted to remind long time readers who that lady was. It’s been months since Jane’s mom made an appearance. Creating for audiences experiencing the story at two different time speeds wasn’t something I’d anticipated jumping into this webcomic thing. The script was written for binge readers, while the pages are laid out for you weekly subscribers.
Still calling for her mother, despite said mother being at least partially complicit in the events that led her to her mummified state…
Mummies need their mommies. 🙂
In which we learn how much of the last 50 pages have been “All just a dream”.
Since Mommy seems to still be asleep in that chair, she must be exhausted–or Jane didn’t cry out very loudly.

Actually, that wasn’t a complaint, merely an observation. Dude, it’s your story–tell it as you want to tell it 🙂
