Oh dang! I thought she was going to threaten to kill her if Jane didn’t cooperate. This is a person who doesn’t mess around. I kind of feel bad for Flan. Sure, I hated her at first, but drowning is a horrible way to go.
Thank you for your wonderful complement. This writing thing is hard. I’m glad Flan’s arc came through. Wasn’t there a little bird with her? Where’s Harriet? 😉
Ah, no… She was shaping up to such an interesting character too. To the depths, go all my hopes and dreams.
By the way, this whole chapter has really been something special. The art has turned from great to incredible, but the way the story has turned is the real standout. Great characters, old and new really starting to shine, and the narrative showing an entirely new, and welcome edge. It’s obvious how much love and care gets poured into this. And now it’s really paying off.
What he said.
And poor Flan. Well, at least they didn’t torture her. I’ll miss her though. Jane was starting to build a really cool posse.
And that look on Jane’s face is priceless. Yeah, these people play for keeps.
Thanks, Hjels! 😀 It was fun introducing Flan as a 2-bit bad guy and then trying to make her a bit more sympathetic. In the original version of this scene she got beheaded, but after the location was switched from a jail cell to the airship this was the only way it could go down.
Happy 100 pages! Though it seems less and less likely that Wrenn will be surprisingly reasonable with Jane, and less likely that both of them will see page 101.

@Hjels you really cracked me up with your remark.
True, Jane’s motley crew is/was shaping interestingly.
One thing for sure is that Jane has a lot to think about if she survives this adventure.

Thank you! Only about 20 more pages to go, and more plot twists than I can count.
Big reveal coming up on Monday’s page, stay tuned. 🙂
