Page 122 – Anubis
Just when you thought it was over… IT BEGINS!
There’s no revenge quite like digging up your enemies’ bodies and bringing them back to life just to inflict vengeance upon them. Again and again.
Can’t wait for the next page?
Vote for I, Mummy to see a preview!
“Dark Jane” is actually Anubis? Things have certainly taken an unexpected turn. O.o
What say you to THIS outcome, Sir Ezra? Was this covered in your research?
Oddly, this very much involves Sir Ezra. But, we won’t get into that until the next volume. Did you notice that Jane has never seen or heard any other ghosts?
Oh, good. It’s just an ancient, vengeful egyptian god, who can make a hideous, soul-eating alligator-lion-monster cringe in horror. I was worried there for a second.
Jane has divine multiple-personality disorder.
By the way, drawing a frightened croc is tricky. Luckily lions have expressive bodies.
I’m sure that I’ll spell the name wrong. But that is the monster/god Mahmmet who consumes those whose hearts are heavy with sin. If you thought Anubis the eternal opponent was a piece of work you ain’t seen nothing.
Yep, that’s Ammit, “Devourer of the Dead”, “Eater of Hearts”, “Great of Death”. There are plot reasons I’m not adhering too strictly to ancient Egyptian religion, but the explanation is a long ways off in the story.
So instead of being eaten, his soul is just straight-up obliterated? Now that’s metal.
Sooo…does this mean my theory that Dark Jane is actually Anubis was right? Also, here I was thinking Dark Jane was some sort of omniscient, dispassionate judge that simply judges souls ’cause that’s how it rolls. Apparently, we’re dealing with something a heck of a lot more vicious.
You’re more right than you know. But, you know. Spoilers. 😉 You’ll never make me talk, copper!
If you use photoshop for you comic, I found a bunch of great lightning, fire and sparkle/dazzle brushes on DA. I might have gone overboard with them on this page, but they’re so much fun.
Not really surprised, it was a coin flip between Osiris and Anubis anyways. king of the dead or his right hand that takes over whenever needed.
The vote incentive’s picture shows a nice effect of having your soul thoroughly demolished… or is it a third party interviening? hard to say. Yellow glow that’s taking up the eye sockets and mouth is always annoying to determine if it’s a power up or an instant kill at times.
The yellow glow in the teaser panel is fire. Fire shooting out of his eyeballs. 🙂
Well, the sheriff was spouting a lotta bull so I guess that feather of truth still works in whatever day and age this comic takes place in. … Or wait, is it just when someone’s holding it that it burns them to nothingness… I can’t seem to recall properly.
I don’t know about holding the feather, but in this case Anubis destroyed the Sheriff’s soul (via crushing his heart in the jar) in such a spectacular way that it affected the Sheriff’s physical body as well.
Daaaw. Who’s the cutest little God of the Underworld? It’s Anubis!
That he is. So cute. 🙂
