Vol 3, Page 2 – Shut It
I hope this heavy dose of snow makes your summer feel a little cooler. Who wouldn’t want a pair of those spring-heels, eh? Well, I can’t help you there, but here’s a DIY plague mask, as seen in comics near you.
And an early version of Jane’s masked heroine costume.
Can’t wait for the next page?
Vote for I, Mummy to see a preview!
He’s not trapped in with her, she’s trapped in with him!
Haha, exactly!
Always love a good Watchmen reference
Well, as usual, you come up with amazing contraption! Incredible design!
I want some spring-heels! Although I think Jane would bet he only one who could wear them without breaking a leg or two.
Neat, reminds me of Chell from the Portal games. Why the bird theme, though? Shouldn’t she be all jackle-y… jackl-ish… whatever?
I did look at the portal boots, but that blade design looked a little too modern for steampunk technology. Her costume has a corvid (crow) theme because they’re the best birds ever, and as we’ll see in a bit Jane wants nothing to do with Anubis. 😉
Finally, Sir Ezra has formulated a way to repay Jane for concocting the exasperating (to him) sobriquet, “Ezzy”. ^^
I really like your action poses. They are impressive without being too “Marvel-y”. 🙂
Full confession: I did try the “superhero landing” pose. But it was just too silly, and didn’t work with the mechanics of her bouncy legs. They have a locking mechanism that stores leg breaking kinetic energy when folded. 😀
I clearly need to up my game when it comes to super-suit technology, seeing how you’ve set such a high standard in a far lower tech universe
High complement! Thanks, Neil!
Truth, I’m a big fan of solving mechanics via analog means whenever possible. Reduced complexity (usually) leaves fewer points of failure. Plus, Jane can withstand a bit more physical punishment than normal people.
Those heels reminds me a bit of the long-fall boot from Portal 2. Which is not at all a bad thing. This little number is many orders of magnitude more menacing, though. Also not a bad thing.
Haha, you’re not the first to notice the similarity. 🙂 I did look into some kind of steampunk version of the Portal blades, but it still felt too modern. My version has the added option of locking in the down position and storing all that kinetic energy, as seen above.
Reminds me of an episode of Murdoch Mysteries, where someone swipes georges comic book design for their own use. If you’re not familiar with that, its a great canadian detective series set at the turn of the 1900s in toronto. Detective Murdoch uses cutting edge and steampunk future tech devices to help him solve mysteries such a fingermarks (fingerprints) and a version of a lie detector. unfortunately the later seasons get too much into that aspect of it and push things a bit too far imho
