Page 26 – The Séance
I did a bit of research on seances, but only enough to make it interesting. I didn’t want to accidentally call forth a real spirit.
Original Script
Cut to a very dark room. Jane, Mom, Madame, and Dad are sitting around a circular table holding hands. In the center of the table is a glass of wine and three candles. A circle of 3 fresh branches surrounds these, and a circle of round stones surrounds both. Her assistant is behind her doing something. Ghost is also there, watching skeptically. MADAME Spirit of the past, move among us. Be guided by the light of this world and visit upon us. The boy walks around the table waving some smoking sticks in the air. Jane is looking bored.
Bored or asleep, I can’t really tell which. Either way, it seems she doesn’t have much hope of anything coming of this. In fact, it seems to have had the opposite effect. For once, Sir Ezra is is nowhere to be seen. I suppose he’s as bored as Jane is.
I’m going with “I’m so boooooorrrrrrrrrrreddddddddd…”
What Pennywise the clown said, only moreso.
Sooooo…. Just what is that, ah, smoking herbal material the kid is waving around? 😉
Purple haze
Something tells me that Jane and Tyree-with a little help from Harriet-are going to have some fun at someone’s expense very soon.
Or, to put it in otherworldly terms, hijinks shall ensue.
mmmmaaaayyyybbbeeeee….
I must say, I really like how the domination of purple and yellow in this scene create so much atmosphere.
Thank you. I reused the color scheme process from the underground tunnel scenes.
Just one word: Heh!
Hehe!
Agree with everyone praising the lighting effects. And the subtle gradations between bright yellow and dark purple work quite well with the newsprint design of the strip, even though older comics were far more limited in their color palettes.
