They’re playing Hearts, a card game for a-holes and cut-throats. At least that’s how my in-laws play it, and that seems to be true here, too.
The Queen of Spades is the worst card to get stuck with each round, giving you a LOT of points in a game where the lowest score wins.
Hearts? If uou’re not playing like a shark, why are you playing at all?
And if Jane is far enough behind, she may well have to take Robit up on his offer.
Yeah, she may be cheating. But I don’t know that she’s winning. I suspect that their dad is the real card shark in the family. Being an engineer he can probably count cards.
“I will teach you everything I know.”
Yeah, you’re already showing her more than you’re aware of, pal.

Jane doesn’t know the meaning of the word discretion. It was taught when she missed school.
Oh man, I learned to play that game one year at summer camp. It is an evil game and I lost so many quarters. Good times.
I just try not to come in last.
I’m in love with the art style of this comic. Makes me feel like I’m reading something from the golden age.
Thanks, Mike. I’m really glad you’re enjoying it. Trying to mimic the classic look has been a lot of fun.
