Page 91 – It’s Not Here
This looks bad. Real bad. Really really bad.
We haven’t seen Undersheriff Wren since page 47, when the police broke up that political rally.
By request, here’s a textless banner of the first panels. (Click for larger size)
Can’t wait for the next page?
Vote for I, Mummy to see a preview!
Now would be an excellent time for the galumphing return of Jane’s cavalry. 🙂
Jane simply MUST begin listening more closely. Lewis told her earlier (Volume 2, Page 56) that Simza had a buyer waiting.
Ah, you remember that little bit of foreshadowing, about a buyer for the necklace. 🙂 Excellent! More on that in a bit. Stay tuned.
Where’s Jane’s personal cop when she needs her? Get your hide over here, Flannagan!
Officer Flannagan will be back. Hopefully, sooner rather than later.
excellent triptych of jane. even mummies can cry. if you have the files, a larger stitched together dialogless version would make a great vote incentive.
sleazy simza had better have a back door and insurance on her shop. i don’t think the cops are in a witness-leaving mood.
mulkintrash of the world unite! you have nothing to lose but your jane!
Good idea, but since I’ve already got a incentive image (a teaser panel from the next page) I’ve added it to the author notes, above. I don’t have a version with the bits in the gutters between the panels. 😀 Thanks.
I like the panel layout here much better 🙂
Thanks. 🙂 Chopping up the panels for Tapastic makes things interesting. Sometimes the individual panels have more impact, sometimes the juxtaposition on a larger page works better. I’m not sure either is better, just different.
Malkintrash? How dare Simza, in addition to stealing Jane’s life-sustaining necklace, compare her to Michelle Malkin?! Oh wait, it’s MULKIN…
MALKINTRASH. One in a dismal garb.
A. Oops, I forgot to add this one to the dictionary.
B. Double oops, I misspelled it in the comic. You had it right. Dang, one more item for the fix list. 🙂
Oh Jane, you didn’t think it would be that easy, right?
We might need Jabberwocky to get you out of this one…
Jabberwocky got things to do, cats to eat. He ain’t got time for silly human stuff.
Will Jabberwocky still be burbling without Jane’s hoodoo to keep him whiffling? I know Harriet can function on her own, but J’s not quite all there.
Lewis might find herself sitting atop a very valuable pile of bones.
And it looks like Jane’s file goes pretty high up in government circles. Is this the Sheriff’s work? Or have The Powers that Be been keeping an eye on her based on her mother’s position?
That triptych is awesome Andy. All the art on this page is so sweet.
To be honest, I’m not sure what’s going to happen with Jabberwocky. I ended up removing a scene he was in, so his destiny is literally unwritten at this point.
Those first three frames are a piece of art on their own. I like the overall composition, it’s very cinematic looking. I like how it’s broken up in that you can see the anger in her hand first, then her face, and the trouble that’s coming to her in the third frame. I like the inking on her bandages, they look especially crisp and sharp and the shading across her clothing from the lamplight is fantastic.
Thanks, Glenn. 😀 To speed up coloring I used a blue shadow layer and a light yellow highlight layer over flat colors. For this scene the highlight layer also has a glow effect to give it a bit of atmosphere. Some day I’ll switch to digital line art, but I do love the smooth feel of an real brush.
