So Morris is in chains.guess he wasn’t quite bad enough a bad guy. Mahan seems to have fallen into despair. Not without cause. It occurs to me that if someone, for the sake of argument, we’re to be, say, eaten by ammit, there’s an awfully convenient way to dispose of the evidence. Interesting play of emotions on Morris’ face.I wonder whether he is upset by mehan’s predicament or just realized that he knows too much in that last panel. didn’t anyone ever teach wrenn that it isn’t polite to point?
The police force is very insular, which tends to result in evil deeds. If you’re not one of them then you better watch your back. Flan went AWOL and Morris seems to have been cast out, both of which are big taboos in groups like this that put a high value on unquestioning loyalty.
othering terms like ‘perps; and ‘civilians’ that cops use dehumanize noncops make lying and excessive force easier too. everybody else is a them and only us really count.
Ruh-roh. They got Flanagan too? I was really hoping that she (and Jabberwocky) might be Jane’s ace in the hole.
It’s not looking good for our heroine, that’s for sure.
And can I just gush about your use of color, Andy? It’s so great to see. Muted, but bright on those nice clean uniforms. You really know how to set a mood.
Of course, right now the mood might be despair, but still.
😀 I’m glad the color schemed is working out. I was really nervous about the night scenes when I started this part of the story.
The setup is pretty basic: a dull blue layer for shadows, a light yellow layer with glow fx for highlights, and a second very light blue shadow layer to dull out everything except the highlights. With flat color fills on the characters and backgrounds. Otherwise it would take way too long to color each page.
I have a feeling that this is going to go worse for Flanagan than Jane.
These cops aren’t gonna be very forgiving to someone who’s betrayed them and gone over to the other side.
Yep, disloyalty within the ranks is a worse offense than most crimes they might perpetrate against the very citizens they’ve sworn to serve and protect. Which the population blames on the Queen.
Well, I gotta give her credit for not being a coward and lying to get herself out of trouble. If this doesn’t score her brownie point with Dark Jane, nothing will. But this doesn’t look good.
Flan is more follower than leader. She seems comfortable following the majority rule or kowtowing to bullies like Morris. Unlike her ex-partner, Flan is a terrible liar.
Should have killed him via life judgement. Kinda hard to trace that sort of thing really. Just causes people to seem to have suddenly keeled over if you’re just examining the corpse.
Now, that amulet’s magic… any other types of magic on par with it around? I have a feeling that Jane needs a bit of a more experienced hand in doing things with it. Maybe a Boogeyman sort of deal. Come to think of it with all the rot in here some interpretations of “Boogeyman”/”Boogeymen” would have quite a bit of work cut out for them.

So Jane’s pet officer didn’t make it to the Queen–a pity.
Morris’ attitude strongly resembles a trapped rodent.
He’s really sweating it. He might be the next one put in a penalty box.

Jane still looks defiant, but poor Officer Flanagan seems to be in bad shape. Is she going to fulfill her life pledge to Jane?
