Vol 3, Page 62 – The Invisible Halfwit
I’m quite pleased with how this page turned out. Another scattering of subtle clues, but the best (and creepiest) is yet to come… muwahahaha!
The SpiderForest Webcomic Collective is welcoming 11 new members, including your’s truly. Over the next few weeks I’ll be posting a few introductions here.
Let’s kick it off with some hidden magical worlds:
Heart of Keol: Ethan is a young man with a broken family. After an encounter with a mysterious child, he wakes up in a strange world that looks a lot like ancient Korea—except with magic. Even with all this frenzy happening around him, he can’t seem to shake off his family baggage…
Tistow: Small Trolls: Jáhko and Veeti live out daily adventures in the nearby woods, helping fairies build houses, outwitting monsters, gathering seeds with trolls and helping wisps grow saplings. Under the guidance from Jáhko’s grandmother and the woodland spirits, the boys will learn the ways of the shaman and to respect nature.
Children of Eldair: Koe finds a young woman held by demons, kidnapped from Earth and brought to his world by fairies. Can he help Embera get back home, and will his own world survive the journey?
Hmmm. A being whose true form can only be seen through a film of hagfish slime? Moderately perplexing….
Or is it the reverse, and the slime is an obscuration? A delightful conundrum, indeed. 🙂
You have a mind like a steel trap, you know that? Nothing slips past.
I wasn’t sure if anyone would remember that little tidbit. 😉
On the other hand, I have a mind like a steel colander.
“Hagfish Slime Goggles” is a pretty memorable concept. 🙂
Good memory there!
interesting reaction to a sword through the shoulder joint. seems more puzzled than anything. I usually at least utter a few Victorian maledictions when that happens to me.
He might be “overclocked” as the steampunk kids would disclaim.
I kinda love it when Sir Ezra drops his pretentious mannerisms, and is so perplexed he goes all commoner. Fitting for a former man of his station? Nope.
Rampaging robots, Werewolves, vampires, and who knows what else. It’s been a weird day.
Ah so you’re going for The Strain type of vampire. Less of the suave, more of the savage…this should get interesting!
*wink*
Ezzy’s shrug makes me chuckle a bit. It reminds me of the Guess I’ll Die meme.
I spend too much time browsing memes.
So wait, Jane’s removing her goggles and apparently seeing what the others are seeing (unless this is just faking us out for the next page)? Huh. I was under the impression that Jane was just able to see it because she’s been known to see things others can’t. Then again, if even Ezzy can’t see it…
Jane can only see them clearly through the goggles. (I’m sure there’s a meme in that, too)
In hindsight I probably shouldn’t have included invisible characters in a comic. It seemed like a good idea, until they had to be drawn. Draw what? 😀 So, the panels will bounce back and forth between what Jane sees and what everyone else sees.
