Page 11 – G’morning
That’s one way to make an entrance.
In case you missed it, Book 2 (this story) has a disturbing cover.
Original Script
DAD Reaching for the railing on a tilting deck. Thank goodness we are over the lake. Jane smacks spread eagle into the bridge! Her telescope hits nearby and shatters. JANE After a moment, picks herself up. Owww! That was positively… Notices a large rip in her sleeve. Oh het! This was new. Looks up from her elbow and sees the shocked faces of the spectators around her on the bridge. JANE Embarrassed wave. Uh. G’morning. Heh-heh.
I perceive that the confetti-strewn water was a ruse. Well-played, sir, well-played, indeed. 😀
This approach made me laugh, but my sense of humor is pretty warped.
And greatly appreciated. 😀
Yes indeed. Somebody’s been watching their Looney Tunes cartoons.
I love how you showed the telescope breaking instead of Jane’s landing. Tasteful and effective.
And that disturbing cover may be a spoiler.
Did any members of the local law enforcement agencies witness her spectacular landing and unexpected survival? They may wish a word with our heroine.
Inspired by cartoons, yes. Loony Tunes, nope. Smacking into the bridge idea came from an early episode of Nadia: Secret of Blue Water, which I haven’t seen in years. That show seems to have left some fingerprints on this comic.
The events on the cover won’t happen for a VERY long time, and my lips are sealed.
Tune in next Thursday for Jane’s 15 min of fame.
so much for a secret identity. goodbye, potential superhero career.
More like so much for a normal life, since secret identities are increasingly out of vogue (the X-Men, Captain America, Iron Man, Daredevil, and more all ditched theirs). Jane will likely be a media darling for some time, since her public trials likely won’t stop with falling from the sky unscathed.
I’m grinning like an idiot because … well, you’ll see. On Thursday. 😉
The cover _rocks_! Very cool! Lots to look forward to. The fact that she has her bandages off is crazy enough, really. And now there’s still everything else!
🙂 There’s a long twisty road ahead before we reach the scene on the cover.
Who needs secret identities?
Jane is about to get too much unwanted attention! You are evil, Andy, I was sure she would fall on the water. Poor Jane.
She got a mouthful of Concreties-Breakfast of Champions.
That’s got to be the most understated reaction to landing spread-eagle on a the street from a blimp ever. I’m guessing the crowd has plenty of panic to make up for it, though. So much for passing for normal.
Oh, that cover panel is amazing! I love her pose and expression. There’s something very…tortured about it.
It is going to be hard to draw the scene depicted on the cover, but that’s a LONG way off. By then, these pages will be “the good old days”. I can promise you a happy ending, though.
