Can you name all the toy cameos in the 2nd panel?
Clockwise from the top:
- Poharex the tyrannosaur
- Sasha from The Black Orb
- Potoo Gryphon from Oops Comic Adventure
- Gaws from Mummy’s Always Right
- Fluffy of Busybee art and music
- Leopold “Spiders” Gryphon from Princess Chroma
- Pirate Mike from his own comic
- A therizinosaurus from RAWR! Dinosaur Friends
- Hespera Smith as herself

Production Notes
“Don’t worry, I used a digital stunt double for this scene.”
Well this makes my week! Thank you!
You’re most welcome. And thank you for the many retweets and shares over the years. I may not say it but I always notice and really appreciate it.
I am a horrible, horrible person for not commenting sooner on this chapter (and for a whole bunch of other reasons)- anyway, it all looks great so far!
Jane’s new costume is interesting. It seems very… patchwork, for lack of a better term. Like she got the base clothes, the mask, the cape and the leg prostheses all from different sources and then joined them together to make something that looks avian- no doubt inspired by her lovely feathered companion! These leg prostheses most intrigue me, however. They don’t seem to be a very commonplace item in what we’ve seen of her world so far. Was it custom-made for her? And by whom?
The motor vehicles shown in previous pages also intrigue me. In a world full of bizarre, steam-powered, speculative Victorian transports, the truck and the smaller green vehicle seem to be a tad out of place. I guess not all 22nd Century vehicles can be fanciful, right?
And of course, that little cameo in the second panel is most appreciated. Looks like Poharex isn’t just a museum exhibit in this world, he’s a cultural phenomenon! Had a lot of fun guessing who the other ones were, too. Recognized more of them than I expected…
Eagerly awaiting the next page. You’re on to a great start!
Thank you for reading, but don’t feel guilty if you don’t or can’t. Take care of yourself first, right? These days I tend to binge read comics and don’t always have as much time and energy to comment as often as I’d like.
You nailed her costume origins, definitely pieced together. Part of it was last seen in volume 1 as Jane’s flight suit. Where she got the goggles and stilts will be revealed in the next chapter.
I’m not very strict about world building. 🙂 If it looks cool I’ll put it in. Physics be damned. But, if I’m feeling too lazy to design yet another vehicle I’ll just throw something in based on an interesting reference (like that green trolley, which also appeared once in the previous book). The truck is steam powered, but unfortunately I messed up the back wheels the earlier shot of it. We’ll see more in a bit.
I’m in another comic! }:-D
Thankyou!
Looks like I must be famous in this world too if they’re making toys of me }:-)
They’re probably unofficial bootleg knockoffs.
*SIGH* I do believe that the door opens IN, Jane, and I further believe that there is a doorknob on said door…..
Apparently this reality’s version of the Keystone Cops has lost track of one of their cast members. ><
It would have been so impressive to burst through the door and grab the escaping thieves. I blame her goggles, it really hinders peripheral vision. Yeah, that must be it. 😀 At least no one was there to see her embarrassing blunder, because they’re all escaping! Get up Jane!
It’s spelled “busybee” but thanks! I apparently make an excellent plushie. 🙂
Aw nuts. 😀 Sorry about that. Fixed now.
Not the plushies! OH, THE HUMANITY!!!!!
Now they’ll never be worth anything as collectables!
Jane’s a bit on the clutzy side, today, I see. Stilts are best left to the experts, sweetie.
Loving the Spiders plushie! I should add that to the Chroma merchandise line. No doubt Leo will want to kill me, but, well, what else is new?
I do know of certain store that specializes in Chroma merch…
What about a reversible Leo plushie?
One you can transform from a rabbit to man.
A man bun. 😉
I don’t know whether I should hate you or love you for that pun.
Andy ignored my notes to make the box explode, obviously.
Obviously 😀
Jane, bad girl, destroying a crate of perfectly good cameos… I mean, plushies.
So, I guess becoming a masked hero is not as cool as it looks, right?
“When you sing of my glorious deeds, leave this part out.”
